A melodic cultural milestone for the UAE

Al Wasl – Dubai’s historic name, which translates to “The Connection” – is the name of the Expo 2020 commissioned opera. Al Wasl tells an enchanting musical tale of the UAE as a connector between civilisations and brings to life the UAE's innovative spirit. Al Wasl Opera brings together more than 100 artists and musicians, plus a production team of 70 professionals. Composed by Mohammed Fairouz and co-authored and written by Maha Gargash, Al Wasl Opera is produced in collaboration with Welsh National Opera and will premiere at Dubai Opera. Opera360 in Al Forsan Park is an immersive musical experience that takes audiences on a behind-the-scenes journey of Al Wasl opera. Visitors who step inside Opera360 can experience the magic of the opera and gain a unique insight into how this incredible production was brought to life.

Nearly the entire façade of Opera 360 is covered in LED panels, emitting a soft glow. Once inside, the curtain closes to surround guests in a 360-degree circle of LED screens and surround sound. Wrap-around digital panels display vibrant scenes that transport you backstage, into the orchestra pit with the musicians, inside the atelier where costumes and the set design are brought to life, and on stage with the performers.
