The Peace Memorial

The Peace Memorial honours the brave Emiratis who gave their lives to bring peace and stability to the world. Designed by Icaria Atelier, the memorial's columns represent the Emirati lives laid down in protection of the UAE, its citizens and others beyond its borders. They symbolise strength in sacrifice and embody defence and protection. The gap between the memorial's two walls leaves space for visitors to close the circle - symbolically connecting the walls and building the nation. Sections of these walls are also inlayed with delicate pieces of mother-of-pearl, sourced by local fishermen, to represent the eternal light of the heroes who are honoured here.
