Dr Afra Atiq, Carlos Andrés Gómez and musician Brent Shuttleworth present a multi-lingual, multi-genre performance in celebration of the power of the word and its ability to bring people together.

The Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre is a performance space hosting cultural performances and live music for seated crowds, located in Al Forsan Park. The venue’s design features a model of two Ghaf trees that intertwine above the centre of the stage.

For the first time ever, the story of Ousha's dream will be told to the world by Expo 2020 through a show that re-imagines the رحلة في عالم أحلام الفتاة عوشة البالغة 12 عاما، حيث يتكلم القمر وتُنسج خيوط القدر. هنا نرى العالم من وجهة نظر الطفلة عوشة التي وُلدت غير قادرة على الكلام. لكن وبالرغم من ذلك، ستستحوذ كلماتها على قلب شعب بأكمله. ولأول مرة، تُروى قصة حلم عوشة للعالم بواسطة عرض يعيد تخيل الحلم الذي حرك حياتها، وذلك ضمن فعاليات إكسبو 2020 دبي.dream that set her life in motion.

Ousha and the Moon (Oct 10th)

Arabic poetry is a wonderful linguistic form that reflects many powerful and meaningful images and is naturally correlated with musicality and rhythm. The performance titled “The Rhyme” embodies Arabic poetry through body language and music and further proves that Arabic poetry, despite being an ancient art, is widely able to absorb contemporary disciplines, including dance. The show is staged through an exchange of narration, where bodies and music are the main reflections of the verses. Using the universal language of music and movement breaks any possible linguistic barrier. “The Rhyme” invites the awareness of the Arabic heritage and culture through art pillars with the base being Arabic poetry, Middle Eastern music, and contemporary dance. The journey begins in ancient times and covers the timeline of Arabic poetry all the way into the desert of the United Arab Emirates.
