In February 1968, this nation's founding fathers met under a desert tent and shared an idea that would turn into something truly great: the United Arab Emirates. Animated by this spirit of collaboration, The Good Place by Expo Live is an exhibition space dedicated to showcasing human potential and those who work to advance it – through the Expo Live innovation and partnership programme and beyond.

With a design inspired by the tent where the UAE was conceived, the pavilion showcases social innovations conceived to improve our lives. Come and meet ordinary people doing extraordinary things – and be inspired to join our global community.

Designed by renowned Emirati architect Ahmad Abdulrahman Bukhash, The Good Place’s structure expands the Bedouin tent shape into an elegant white canopy, folded with seven origami-like angles on each side to join at a tall peak. The tent seems to float over a clean, glass box.

The event will shine the spotlight on women’s careers and the motherhood penalty in the 21st century, their challenges and formidable contributions to society, as well as showcasing male and female leaders who are putting in place family-friendly policies to encourage more equitable burden-sharing of childcare by both parents. The event features photographs from the Emirati Dad Exhibition. Hosted by the Delegation of the European Union in Abu Dhabi, this is held in partnership with the Italian, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish Embassy, as well as UN Women and Expo 2020's Women’s Pavilion. From farm to plate, the food value chain is an integral part of society, providing income and livelihoods for billions. The ways in which we currently cultivate food by means of deforestation and food waste however, are all contributing adversely to climate change. Expo will serve as a platform to bring together all stakeholders in various value chains to spotlight localized solutions to food, nutrition and farming challenges. The programme will explore food sustainably, climate-friendly agriculture and other practices that work in harmony with the environment.
