Denmark is one of history’s great seafaring powers. At the Denmark Pavilion, the country is showcasing its future course: one of sustainable development, environmental conservation and community well-being.

Showcasing numerous cutting-edge exhibits, the pavilion takes visitors on a tour of Denmark’s past and thriving green future. Inside a building designed to evoke the Danish flag, journey through Danish history and trademark “hygge” (or cosy) culture, learn about the nation’s ambitious goal to cut 70 per cent of its carbon emissions by 2030 and take in expansive views of Expo from the breezy rooftop café and lounge.

This Caribbean nation, nicknamed “Nature Island”, is an eco-adventure, where you can snorkel in waters fizzing with volcanic bubbles or soak in hot springs after a day of hiking along its 240 kilometre National Trail. Fall for its rustic charms at the Dominica Pavilion, where you can enjoy island music, taste native foods, and get to know its indigenous people. 
The island boasts the highest number of centenarians per capita in the world, a fact they credit to their diet and relaxed lifestyle. One thing this laid back nation is serious about? Becoming the first climate resilient island in the world to better face the challenges of the future.

Along the way, you can enjoy the rhythms of Grenadian calypso and soca music, and learn about the island’s relaxed lifestyle and welcoming culture.

Explore the pavilion, designed to evoke the unique homes of forest-dwelling tribes, then learn about CAR’s sustainable initiatives, from understanding the lifecycle of the forest to designing improved wood cook stoves and ambitious plans for a new solar energy plant.

Separated by a three-kilometre-wide channel called “The Narrows”, the twin Caribbean islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis attract visitors from around the world with their white-sand beaches and scenic green hills. For Expo 2020, the island federation gave its rising student designers an opportunity to craft how they would like the world to see their home, and it’s a vision of nature, culture and fun. Celebrate the yearly carnival, known as Sugar Mas, with traditional costumes and dances, gaze into infinity mirrors that project you into dramatic Kittitian landscapes and enjoy the flavours and aromas of the islands’ traditional cuisine.

Tonight, we're in the Sustainability District, featuring Pavilions showcasing storied African cities and an ancient stop on the great Silk Road. We’ll explore them all—with some bites to eat along the way!

With its advantageous location in the heart of Asia, Uzbekistan once formed the backbone of the Great Silk Road between the East and West. As the history-spanning Uzbekistan Pavilion shows, the nation continues to connect hearts and minds between those cultures today.

The pavilion’s cylinder-shaped structures symbolise the ancient Uzbek cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, each one a vital stop along the Silk Road. As you travel the path between them, you’ll journey through Uzbekistan’s history and culture, as well as its future – complete with demonstrations of Uzbek innovation, such as a customisable cartoon film.

The Uzbekistan Pavilion is a trio of smooth, white, flat-topped towers decorated with wide strips of blue mosaic-style patterns set into an oval building. The centre of the structure is dominated by a modern arch printed with a photograph of Uzbek city Samarkand’s ornate Registan town square — glowing with shades of azure, lapis lazuli, and gold.

Burkina Faso means “Land of the Honest People”, and this West African country’s pavilion encompasses that sense of warmth and resilience, with vivid displays devoted to its natural and cultural wonders. Take in unique sights, including a recreation of the Ruins of Loropéni’s imposing stone walls, a millennia-old Saharan gold traders’ fortress. Enjoy scenes from Africa’s largest film festival, FESPACO, which has taken place in Burkina Faso’s capital city Ouagadougou for half a-century, and live demonstrations of the rich variety of crafts created by the vast number of ethnic groups that call Burkina Faso home from elaborate masks to antelope carvings, as well as colourful conical hats and intricately designed batik fabric.
