Join us and celebrate the Maldives National Day at Expo 2020

Take a visual journey though one of the world’s most isolated and beautiful destinations at the Maldives Pavilion. This archipelago nation is a paradise of white-sand beaches spread across nearly 1,200 islands and surrounded by the Indian Ocean. It’s also home to some of the world’s best diving and snorkelling, among coral reefs and rainbows of tropical fish. Discover cultural highlights such as dance and drum performances, as well as traditional Maldivian dishes. Inspired by the country’s “environment first” philosophy, the pavilion also charts the nation’s historical and ongoing initiatives to achieve a sustainable future.

In celebration of Vietnam's National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, Vietnam Pavilion will stage a grand fashion show with more than 100 Vietnamese and international models, musicians, and circus performers. Be inspired by the best of Vietnamese beauty and art at Al Wasl Plaza. The Eternal Flow show will be followed by a 3D projection show depicting the story of Âu Cơ and Lạc Long Quân and the mythical origin of the Vietnamese people. A show not to be missed.

Expo 2020 Dubai, the first Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region in the 170 years of World Expo history, opened with a celebration of global togetherness and optimism. Spectacular storytelling, performances, fireworks, and immersive projections on the dome of Al Wasl, the heart of Expo 2020, all told a story of collaboration and hope for the future, echoing Expo 2020 Dubai's theme of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". Global artists joining in the celebration included Andrea Bocelli, Ellie Goulding, Lang Lang and Mohammed Abdu.

Long ago, travellers referred to Dubai as Al Wasl, or “the connection” – a name that reflects the area’s heritage as a meeting point. This spirit of coming together takes shape in Al Wasl Plaza, Expo 2020’s spectacular centrepiece and gathering ground for celebration and wonder. 

Situated at the meeting point of Expo’s three thematic districts, Al Wasl Plaza's dome is tall enough to fit the Leaning Tower of Pisa beneath it. By night, she transforms into a 360-degree projection screen, blanketed by more than 250 state-of-the-art projectors. Al Wasl Plaza is a hub for visitors and the vibrant heart of our Expo.

A media conference led by the Comoros Pavilion under the theme "connect the minds to build the future", shedding light on the country's culture, values, and identity. The conference is led by Dr. Kassim Mohamed-Soyir Bajrafil - Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Union of Comoros to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Professor at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris, Islamic thinker, and writer.

The archipelago of Comoros, off Africa’s east coast, is known for its spices and aromas: vanilla, clove, and ylang-ylang. At the Comoros Pavilion, you’ll get a fragrant tour of the islands’ “garden of marvels”, with an emphasis on sustainability.

According to Comorian legend, Mount Karthala erupted up from the ocean floor when King Solomon’s courier accidentally dropped the Queen of Sheba’s ring into the sea. As you begin your journey through the Comoros Pavilion, you’ll receive your own recycled-plastic ring that you can later toss into the Karthala crater as a symbol of your commitment to sustainability.
