Her Excellency spearheads the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s efforts to empower the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and promote research and development in the advanced science and technology sector, in order to create new industries that drive the shift towards a knowledge economy. This, in turn, contributes to the overall mandate of the Ministry to strengthen the UAE’s industrial base, ensure in-country value, and raise the competitiveness of local industries. Her Excellency is responsible to oversee the Agency’s mandate of guiding the space sector, ensuring its contribution to the national economy and to the UAE’s sustainable development.

Laszlo Bacsardi wrote his PhD thesis on the possible connection between space communications and quantum communications at the BME Department of Telecommunications in 2012. He became a corresponding member of the International Academy of Astronautics in 2019. His current research interests are in Industry 4.0, quantum computing and quantum communications. Since 2020, he is associate professor at the Department of Networked Systems and Services, BME and Head of the Mobile Communications and Quantum Technologies Laboratory. He is the leader of the space engineering program of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is the leader of the Hungarian team which submitted a proposal for hosting the 75th International Astronautical Congress in Budapest in 2024. He has more than 100 scientific publications.

Yamazaki earned a Master of Engineering degree majored in Aerospace Engineering from University of Tokyo in 1996, then started working for current Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.  In 1999, she was selected as an astronaut candidate and was qualified as a Soyuz-TMA Flight Engineer in 2004 and NASA Mission Specialist in 2006. On April 5, 2010 Yamazaki was onboard Space Shuttle Discovery on the crew of STS-131, an assembly & resupply mission to the International Space Station.  After retiring from JAXA in 2011, Yamazaki has been serving as a member of Japan Space Policy Committee of Cabinet Office, and devoting herself to space education as an adviser of Young Astronaut Club and a chairperson of “Sorajo (women in aerospace)” under Japanese Rocket Society.

Professor Brian P. Schmidt was appointed Vice-Chancellor and President of The Australian National University in January 2016. Winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics, Professor Schmidt was an astrophysicist at the ANU Mount Stromlo Observatory and Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics before becoming Vice-Chancellor. Professor Schmidt received undergraduate degrees in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Arizona, and completed his Astronomy Master's degree and PhD from Harvard University. Under his leadership, in 1998, the High-Z Supernova Search team made the startling discovery that the expansion rate of the Universe is accelerating. Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, The United States Academy of Science, and the Royal Society, he was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2013.

Chiara Manfletti holds a degree in aeronautical engineering from Imperial College London, a masters degree in space studies from the International Space University in Strasbourg and a PhD from German University of Aachen. She also holds a masters in history from the UK Open University. She worked for the German Aerospace Center, DLR, as a research engineer in the field of liquid rocket propulsion and later joined the European Space Agency in 2016, where she has been the Programme Advisor to the Director General at the agency's headquarters in Paris and guided the process of preparing ESA Ministerial Meetings and coordinating programmatic content proposed to Member States for subscription and their financial elements. She was nominated President of the then just founded Portuguese national space agency, Portugal Space.

Benedikt Badanik currently acts as an associate professor at the Air Transport Department of the University of Zilina, Slovakia. He is an expert in air traffic management.He is a member of the Programme Board for Navigation of the European Space Agency appointed by The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. He supported activities of the Slovak Organisation fo Space Activities with a view to launch the first Slovak satellite skCube. He also supported launch of “near-space” balloon - skballoon Julo1. He co-organised the workshop “Space research in Slovakia” inviting the representatives of the ministry as well as representatives of research and development organisations in Slovakia. He also 
supported the signature of Cooperation agreement between ESA and the Slovak Republic.

Carter Emmart is the Director of Astrovisualization for the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) where he directs the production of the award-winning space shows and the development of the NASA supported OpenSpace software project that interactively visualizes the museum’s Digital Universe 3D Atlas.  Carter, who previously worked at NASA Ames Research Center, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research got his bachelor’s degree in geophysics from the University of Colorado and received his honorary Ph.D. from Sweden’s Linkoping University for directing their graduate interns at AMNH to bring latest visualization research into planetarium domes.

Luc Piguet is the CEO and co-Founder of ClearSpace, a ground-breaking initiative to clear up Space debris. In 2019, the European Space Agency selected Luc and his team at ClearSpace to lead a European consortium that will develop technologies to capture and deorbit space debris. Already, the aim of the initial CleanSpace-1 initiative was to develop technologies to capture and deorbit obsolete space objects such as out-of-use satellites, rocket stages, parts of solar panels, that had been put into orbit over the past 60 years and that are now filling up the space immediately above the Earth. These objects orbit our planet at a speed of 28,000 kmph, making them dangerous projectiles for working satellites and astronauts at the international space station.

Dr. Michaela Musilova is an astrobiologist and the Director of the HI-SEAS analog space research station. Michaela studied and conducted research at the California Institute of Technology, University College London, University of Bristol, Chiba University, International Space University (ISU) and others. She worked for NASA, University of London Observatory, Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope and was the Commander of over 30 simulated missions to the Moon and Mars. She is also a visiting Professor at the Slovak University of Technology, Faculty at ISU and the Head of Research of the satellite technology company NEEDRONIX.

Randy oversees Jacobs support to NASA at Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, Langley Research Center, and the White Sands Test Facility. Prior to this role, Randy served as the Program Manager for our MSFC engineering and science support for 14 years. As the MSFC PM, he was responsible for providing scientific, engineering, and technical support to MSFC’s Engineering Directorate, Science and Technology Office, Flight Programs and Partnerships Office, as well as future programs and projects. Randy was the Deputy General Manager and Director of the ESTS Group’s Engineering Directorate where he supported programs such as the Space Shuttle Return-to-Flight, the International Space Station, and the development of microgravity materials science experiments.

Dr. Tomaz Rotovnik received a Ph.D. degree concerning pattern recognition in Electronics from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor. He is SkyLab’s cofounder, CEO as well as the head of the SkyLabs research group. The scientific and research work of Dr. Rotovnik covers various areas from signal processing, pattern recognition to space-oriented technologies i.e. remote sensing, harsh environment effects, orbital mechanics. He is holder of 2 patents, his bibliography currently comprises more than 100 records including scientific articles published in the monography or international scientific/technical journals and publications at international conferences. For his work, he has already obtained more than 100 citations.

Nina has more than 10 years’ experience in the satellite industry holding different roles in the company and is currently heading the Communications Team. Due to her in-depth knowledge of the industry as well as the end-user segments, she often represents the company at leading satellite and space industry events around the world as well as engaging with governments and stakeholders of all types.  Moreover, because she has worked extensively on both the Ground Station and Earth Observation sides of the business, she has important insights into both. For many years her main focus was on developing markets for KSAT´s Maritime Monitoring services based on SAR data (Synthetic Aperture Radar).

She is also supporting early-stage aerospace startups to scale in the region through Gothams x Hub 71 accelerator program and backs several entrepreneurs through Alidade Ventures. She is volunteering for French Tech, as President of the UAE community.

and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. She has extensive experience
with radiation damage effects in materials, terrestrial and space dosimetry and with programs and codes
used in the field of radiation and dosimetry. As a member of the ABmerit team, she participates in the project ESA Sen2Agri-ESTE and managed and co-developed Sentinel-2 data transformation routines for import into the ESTE SW, which is a decision support system in case of nuclear and radiological emergencies, implemented in many nuclear crisis response centers. In addition, she is responsible for deployment of the SpacePix2 monolithic pixel detectors in various missions for charged particle space dosimetry.

She has extensive management experience of leading in collaborative research and innovation projects, including with European Space Agency for establishing trust in space data and systems, incl applying Distributed Ledger Technologies in ground station and mission control. In 2019-2021, she was leading the study and prototype development on secure distributed ledger (blockchain) for Space Surveillance and Tracking data.

M. Paul Liias is Head of Space policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication. Paul has 
created the Estonian Space Policy and Program 2020-2027. Today he is working on Estonian national 
space legislation and a decentralized e-government solution for Space Traffic Management. Paul is part 
of the Estonian delegation to ESA and European Union Space Programme. He has been engaged in various roles in the space sector for past 13 years. In 2008 Paul joined the first Estonian satellite project ESTCube-1 and lead the development of mechanical systems. After the successful launch of ESTCube-1 in 2013 Paul continued as an entrepreneur in the space sector until 2016 when he joined the ministry.

Tim Flohrer leads ESA's Space Debris Office since 2020. He joined the office as an engineer in 2007, and became analyst in 2009, senior analyst in 2018. Since 2014 he is working for ESA's Space Situational Awareness Program (SSA) and Space Safety Programme (S2P) and leads activities addressing the monitoring of space debris. In parallel he is supporting operational collision avoidance activities for ESA and third party missions, re-entry predictions, mitigation analyses, long-term predictions of the space debris environment, and space debris risk assessments. Before he moved to Darmstadt, Germany, Tim was a research associate at the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern, Switzerland, where he mainly worked on ground- and space-based optical space surveillance, and related planning and processing software.

(Yahsat), the UAE-based publicly listed satellite services operator and subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company. In this role, he is responsible for Yahsat’s overall Business, Customer and Administrative Operations as well as Marketing and Sales Management activities. Farhad is also the Chief Executive Officer of YahClick, Yahsat’s joint venture with Hughes. He heads the charge for the satellite broadband service’s distribution network across Yahsat’s footprint in Africa, Middle East, Central and South West Asia.

She is interested in developing the space sector’s role in supporting the UAE’s knowledge based economy. At the UAE Space Agency, she is the acting head of Space Regulations and Policy section. Her core duties include supporting the development and governance of the National Space Strategy 2030, and the development of reports related to space economy and sustainability. Fatima is currently representing the space sector as a member in the National Experts Program, a Launchpad for Emirati experts and technical leaders to develop and hone their capabilities to best shape the future.

He is also an integral part of the Space Technology and Innovation Roadmap team. Eng. Ahmed joined the agency in 2008 and carried out several tasks related to the management of space missions department, such as coordinating the meetings of the Emirates Space Innovation Group, and managing the Emirates Meteor Monitoring Network in cooperation with the Sharjah Academy of Astronomy, Space sciences & Technology. He also managing all the space projects risks in the agency, in cooperation with the SMM team. space sector policy, with a focus on international affairs, legal & regulatory issues, research, as well as finance. He has been in charge of the coordination of the SpaceResources.lu initiative since its launch in 
2016. Before joining LSA, Mathias Link occupied similar functions at the Ministry of the Economy and Luxinnovation. For more than ten years, Mathias Link has represented Luxembourg in space-related 
boards at the European Union and ESA, as well as in the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. He was a member of the Hague International Space Resources Governance Working Group.

Dr Munsami holds a PhD in Physics, a Master of Business Leadership; a Space Studies Program Diploma; and a Certificate in International Air, Space and Telecommunications Law. He worked in South Africa’s Space Secretariat for the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; managed the implementation of a suite of bilateral and multilateral science and technology agreements; was involved in the development of South Africa’s National Space Strategy and National Space Policy; and oversaw the establishment of South African National Space Agency.  On winning the bid in 2012 to co-host the Square Kilometer Array, the biggest radio astronomy project in the world, he became the Chief Specialist for Astronomy and African Space Science.

Jason founded Stardust Technologies in 2014 with the mission to empower the space industry through innovations in technologies, science, with the goal of making space more accessible to humanity. Through this Jason Michaud has established multiple international innovation projects with universities such as York University, the University of Technology Sidney. Through Stardust Technologies, Jason has also formed many partnerships such as ispace, EXPLOR, Blue Abyss, Habitat Marte to name a few. Most recently Jason Michaud has worked in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency and the National Research Council of Canada on the EDEN project creating solutions for mental health of astronauts utilizing virtual reality, neural systems, haptics feedback in Lunar, Martian, and Micro gravity environments.

In this two-hour event, experienced entrepreneurs discuss what businesswomen can do to move out of the messy growth phase as quickly as possible and build an established, successful business. The workshop explores four main areas; funding, tech and systems, mindset, and people.

First Lady of Namibia, H.E. Monica Geingos, is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years of experience in the financial sector and she held many senior roles in capital markets, corporate finance, and private equity. She was awarded National Honours (Most Distinguished Order of Namibia), by Former President Pohamba, for her “outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development of Namibia.” Monica was inducted into the Namibian Business Hall of Fame and received numerous awards, such as the 'Namibian Business Personality of the Year’ and 'Most Innovative Entrepreneur'. During her time in the private sector, Monica was regularly rated by local and continental media publications as one of the most influential Namibians and recognised by international media as one of 'Africa’s Top 100 Economic Leaders'. In this session, the First Lady discusses	Policy & Legislation and what Namibia has done structurally to improve the promotion of women leadership and gender equality.
