Expo 2020 Dubai’s purpose embodies the two main pillars of these goals: sustainability and opportunity. The global COVID-19 pandemic has further proved the urgency of this global agenda. As this mega-event takes place, Expo 2020 Dubai will become the center of commitment and action in ensuring that no one is left behind. Join three female trailblazers, who have shattered the glass ceiling in the Middle East and Africa’s film industry, for a panel discussion on the footprint of women in filmmaking. Led by Canon MEA, the panel will discuss filmmaking in a male-dominated landscape, as well as why gender equality matters in the industry. It will celebrate the creative efforts of women filmmakers whose contributions have enriched the industry, and also debate how filmmaking should re-invent itself to further support gender equality. After the discussion, there will be a screening of ‘Shadow’, a film by Nayla Al Khaja, the UAE’s first female Director.

A two-day high-level conference that aims at showcasing and mobilising support for strategic continental infrastructure and energy projects in Africa. The conference will highlight, among others, the recently adopted Second Phase of Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA PAP2), the African Integrated High-Speed Rail Network (AIHSRN) project, the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM), the Continental Power System Master Plan (CMP), and the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa. High-level personalities and thought leaders from the continent will discuss the African vision for transformational infrastructure and energy development, engaging stakeholders on the effective delivery of infrastructure and energy in Africa while taking into account the already existing initiatives and frameworks as well as the investment opportunities in the sectors.

Conveniently located next to the recently completed Expo 2020 metro station, with striking views of the magnificent domed Al Wasl Plaza, the DEC offers 45,000 square metres of customisable event space, 14 exhibition and multi-use halls, on-site catering, and best-in-class audio-visual resources.
