Stand Up Against Street Harassment
In 2019, L'Oréal Paris commissioned an international study across eight countries to better understand the issue of harassment in public spaces. The research obtained demonstrated that it can be difficult to identify harassment and understand how to safely intervene. It also showed that harassment in public spaces is the number one issue faced by women and girls around the world.
To stand against this, L’Oréal Paris in collaboration with Hollaback, a world-renowned NGO and global leader in the movement to end harassment, launched the Stand Up Against Street Harassment programme.
The goal of the programme is to raise awareness about the issue of street harassment and how significant it is around the world. We want to discourage harassers, support victims and encourage bystanders to intervene. The ambition is to train one million people by the end of 2021, and therefore combat the prevalence of street harassment.
This Stand Up training session will teach participants the five D’s methodology - distract, delegate, document, delay and direct – five simple actions that can help everyone to intervene safely, whether you are a witness or a victim of street harassment.
