Inspired by the elegant creativity of the natural world, these electricity-producing structures are nearly as clever about harnessing energy as the real-life trees they resemble. The circular tops of these “trees” are covered in solar panels – almost 4,000 square metres of them – but this is only the beginning of their ingenuity. The panels also capture the sun’s energy from above, as well as below, via light reflected off the ground. The trees rotate throughout the day to follow the sun’s arc through the sky, boosting energy production by 23 per cent.
