LAS: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh

Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh is a passionate, humanitarian driven, motivational leader and a women’s rights advocate. Her Excellency is the Assisstant Secretary General, Head of the Social Sector at the League of Arab States, since 2018 and has previously headed the Media and Communication Sector from 2013 to 2018. Before becoming the ASG at LAS, Dr. Abu Ghazaleh was appointed as a Jordanian Representative to the Arab Women Organization. While serving at the (AWO), His Majesty King Abdulla II appointed her Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in 2011 and a Senator to the Jordanian Upper House of Parliament in 2009. During the period of 2007–2011, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah appointed Dr. Abu Ghazaleh as the Secretary General at the National Council for Family Affairs. Dr. Abu Ghazaleh conducted pioneering work for more than 12 years while being the Regional Director of (UNIFEM) Arab States Regional Office. For more than three decades, she has been heavily involved and active at the Global Regional and National level in the areas of policy and legislative reform; gender mainstreaming; strategic planning; human rights; peace and security; and media and communication. Dr. Abu Ghazaleh holds two PhDs in Education and Psychology, an MA in Educational Counseling, and a BA in Psychology and Sociology. She has published over a hundred papers, publications, and journal articles based on her knowledge and expertise.
