Join us in celebrating Russia's National Day at Expo 2020

A perfect complement to Expo’s Mobility District, the colourful, whirled design of the Russia Pavilion suggests a planet in swift motion – much like the hyperconnected one on which we all live.

Inside the pavilion’s spherical shell, a wide range of exhibits will take you on a high-velocity tour of the future of human thought, exploring how we can connect, collaborate and build mutual understanding across the globe. Come experience the possibilities of tomorrow – and sample some mouth-watering Russian cuisine.


The towering, 27-metre-high structure of the Russia Pavilion is composed of a huge sphere supported instead by two large columns, one on either side. A wide, shaded courtyard nestles between them, below the main structure. 

The building gains the appearance of speed from its vibrant exterior décor: narrow bands of bright, rainbow colour, which wrap in great loops around the pavilion, suggesting a blur of motion. A raised circle reminiscent of Saturn’s rings sticks out from the centre of the sphere, completing the planetary motif.

A testament to the incredible work presented at MENASA by local artisans, designers, organisations and international collaborators under the support of Expo 2020 Dubai, the MENASA publication represents a collective effort to present contemporary design and crafts from the UAE to the world.

Expo 2020 Dubai, the first Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region in the 170 years of World Expo history, opened with a celebration of global togetherness and optimism. Spectacular storytelling, performances, fireworks, and immersive projections on the dome of Al Wasl, the heart of Expo 2020, all told a story of collaboration and hope for the future, echoing Expo 2020 Dubai's theme of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". Global artists joining in the celebration included Andrea Bocelli, Ellie Goulding, Lang Lang and Mohammed Abdu.

Long ago, travellers referred to Dubai as Al Wasl, or “the connection” – a name that reflects the area’s heritage as a meeting point. This spirit of coming together takes shape in Al Wasl Plaza, Expo 2020’s spectacular centrepiece and gathering ground for celebration and wonder. 

Situated at the meeting point of Expo’s three thematic districts, Al Wasl Plaza's dome is tall enough to fit the Leaning Tower of Pisa beneath it. By night, she transforms into a 360-degree projection screen, blanketed by more than 250 state-of-the-art projectors. Al Wasl Plaza is a hub for visitors and the vibrant heart of our Expo.

Al Wasl Plaza is 130 metres in diameter and more than 67 metres tall. Delicate-looking despite its titanic scale, her pattern is inspired by our Expo's logo, which is fully visible at the oculus.

In celebration of Vietnam's National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, Vietnam Pavilion will stage a grand fashion show with more than 100 Vietnamese and international models, musicians, and circus performers. Be inspired by the best of Vietnamese beauty and art at Al Wasl Plaza. The Eternal Flow show will be followed by a 3D projection show depicting the story of Âu Cơ and Lạc Long Quân and the mythical origin of the Vietnamese people. A show not to be missed.

Vietnam: The Eternal Flow Fashion Show

Enjoy this vibrant performance of traditional Jamaican music genres in celebration of the country's national day, at Expo 2020 Dubai. The music of Jamaica includes many popular genres, such as mento, rocksteady, reggae, dub music, dancehall, and other related styles. Reggae is especially popular through the international fame of the legendary Bob Marley.

The Jamaica Pavilion brings you the best of both, throwing a musical street party amid colourful shipping containers to tell the story of how the island nation’s rhythms connect and move the world.

You’ll feel island vibes as soon as you enter the pavilion, thanks to its lively sound system and vivid graffiti art – but there’s plenty to learn here as well. Explore Jamaican history and culture, be inspired by its accomplishments in sport and take in views of the island’s gorgeous beaches.
